What if being a good parent isn't something you're supposed to instinctively know how to do—but a language you can actually learn?

In this episode, I sit down with Elisabeth Stitt, award-winning parent educator, author of Parenting as a Second Language, certified life coach, and founder of Joyful Parenting Coaching, to explore a reassuring idea for anyone raising children: parenting is a skill.

Kids don't arrive with an operating manual, yet parents are often expected to somehow know exactly what to do. How do you set boundaries without creating constant conflict? How do you discipline while maintaining connection? How do you prepare children for the realities of life while still giving them the safety and security they need to thrive?

Drawing on more than 50,000 hours working with children and parents and over 30 years of experience—including 25 years as a public school teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area—Elisabeth brings both practical wisdom and compassion to the complexities of raising children.

We explore why effective parenting isn't about getting everything right. Instead, it's built through the countless small interactions that help children feel safe, secure, connected, and loved.

Elisabeth shares how parents can become more intentional about the families they're creating by identifying their core values, understanding child development, establishing clear expectations, and developing tools that make everyday parenting feel less overwhelming.

Because parenting can be difficult—but it can also contain tremendous joy.

And when parents stop believing they're supposed to already have all the answers, they can begin learning, practicing, adapting, and becoming more confident in the way they lead their families.

In this episode, we explore:

• Finding more joy in the parenting journey—even when it's hard
